Terms of Service

Last updated: 19 March 2025

Plain English summary: We are a free matching service — not an accounting firm. We connect you with qualified accountants but take no responsibility for the advice they give. Any formal engagement, fees, and professional relationship is between you and the accountant directly. Please read the full terms below.

1. About Us and These Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website located at https://www.selfassessmentaccountantharrow.co.uk and operated by Self Assessment Accountants Harrow (“we”, “us”, “our”).

By accessing our website or submitting an enquiry, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

2. Nature of Our Service

Self Assessment Accountants Harrow is a referral and matching service only. We do not provide accountancy advice, tax advice, or any regulated financial services. We do not file tax returns, prepare accounts, or act as your agent with HMRC in any capacity.

Our service consists solely of:

  • Receiving your enquiry and matching requirements
  • Identifying up to three accountants from our vetted network who are suited to your needs
  • Introducing you to those accountants so that you can evaluate them independently

Any decision to engage an accountant, and any contractual, professional, or financial relationship that follows, is entirely between you and the accountant. We are not a party to that engagement.

3. Our Vetting Process

We apply a multi-stage vetting process to accountants before admitting them to our network, including verification of professional qualifications, HMRC agent registration status, professional indemnity insurance, and AML compliance. Full details are available on our About Us page.

However, our vetting process does not constitute a guarantee of the quality, suitability, or conduct of any accountant we introduce you to. We carry out checks at the point of admission and annually thereafter, but we cannot monitor day-to-day professional conduct. You should conduct your own due diligence before engaging any accountant.

4. No Professional Advice

Nothing on this website constitutes professional tax advice, legal advice, or financial advice. Blog articles, guides, and service descriptions are provided for general informational purposes only. You should not rely on any content of this website as a substitute for professional advice tailored to your specific circumstances.

Tax law changes frequently. HMRC rules, allowances, thresholds, and deadlines referenced on this site may be out of date. Always verify current rules directly with HMRC or a qualified professional.

5. Your Obligations

When using our service, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and non-misleading information in your enquiry
  • Be the individual or authorised representative of the business making the enquiry
  • Not submit enquiries on behalf of others without their express consent
  • Not use our service for any unlawful purpose, including submitting fraudulent enquiries
  • Treat accountants introduced through our service professionally and respectfully

6. Our Fees

Our matching service is entirely free to you. We receive a fixed referral fee from accountants in our network when a successful engagement is confirmed. This fee is paid by the accountant, not by you, and does not affect the fees they charge for their services.

Our referral relationship with network accountants does not create any bias in our matching process. Accountants are matched to enquiries based on their qualifications, specialism, availability, and location — not on the basis of any commercial arrangement beyond the standard referral fee.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Self Assessment Accountants Harrow excludes all liability for:

  • Any loss or damage arising from your engagement with any accountant introduced through our service
  • Any professional negligence, errors, or omissions by any accountant in our network
  • Any tax penalties, interest, or HMRC enforcement action arising from advice given by a referred accountant
  • Any indirect, consequential, or financial loss arising from use of our website or service
  • Any inaccuracies in the general information provided on our website

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of our free matching service shall not exceed £100.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Complaints About Network Accountants

If you have a complaint about an accountant introduced through our service, you should raise it first directly with the accountant. All network accountants are members of a recognised professional body (ACCA, ICAEW, or CIMA), each of which operates an independent complaints and disciplinary procedure.

You may also notify us of your experience at complaints@selfassessmentaccountantharrow.co.uk. Substantiated complaints may result in an accountant being removed from our network, but we are not able to investigate or adjudicate professional disputes on your behalf.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, data structures, and code — is the intellectual property of Self Assessment Accountants Harrow or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit any content without our prior written permission.

10. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, including HMRC, professional bodies, and accountancy resources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of any third-party site. Links do not constitute endorsement.

11. Availability of Service

We aim to keep the website available at all times but make no warranty as to continuous, uninterrupted availability. We may suspend access for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control without notice.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent version. Continued use of our service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from your use of our service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

For disputes involving consumers, you may also have recourse to alternative dispute resolution (ADR) schemes or online dispute resolution via the EU ODR platform where applicable.
